REVIEW: Good Omens (Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett)

Book: Good Omens
Author: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
My rating: 3.5/5.

Premise: The world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just after tea... People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning. This time though, the armies of Good and Evil really do appear to be massing. The four Bikers of the Apocalypse are hitting the road. But one fast-living demon and a somewhat fussy angel would quite like the Rapture not to happen. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Since I saw the trailer for the amazon series, I wanted to read Good Omens. Added bonus is that Neil Gaiman writes it. I love the humour in this book - from the subtle wit to the big laughs. There was a very British feel to the book, and I found myself relating to some of the gripes and funny attitudes us Brits have! At times, I felt the authors digressed a bit too much for my liking. Yes the background was funny and was meant to be like the tedious waffle people come out with when retelling a story, but it got a tiny tad irksome at times when I wanted the plot to carry on. But overall, a funny book and I'm looking forward to seeing the TV series!
