REVIEW: Harry Potter Series (J.K. Rowling)

Series: Harry Potter
Author: J.K. Rowling
My rating: 3.5/5.

I was part of the tail-end of the generation who grew up with Harry Potter. Sadly, by the time I was old enough to read the books, I'd seen half the films. Whilst I made many attempts to read the series, it was only when I was about 15 that I finally managed to read them all! And I loved them! The thicker books (4-7) I found easier to read, partly due to the writing style adapting to cater for the older audience the books had attracted!

[⚠️CW: JK Rowling, transphobia]
My favourite books were 3 and 5. I loved Sirius Black and I was glad that he featured a lot more in the books. I also loved Lupin as a character. The last book was much better than the film adaptations - although I did miss Hogwarts!

Obviously I can't finish this post without addressing the elephant in the room. I won't rehash what was said by JK Rowling as most people will know about it (if you don't, there's plenty of summaries on google!). It should go without saying that transwomen are women. Feminism should be intersectional - championing equal rights for women of all race, sexuality, religion and gender. Equality isn't just for the straight, white, middle-class, cis-gendered women. Below are links to various charities and booklists supporting the trans community. Please check them out!
