Premise: You think you know the true story of Alice in Wonderland? Well think again. Alyss is destined to become Queen of Wonderland...until her parents are murdered. She flees to safety in our world. Years pass. Now it's time to return.
I've read a couple of reimagining of Alice in Wonderland, and this one didn't disappoint. In this book, a young Alice flees to our world whilst her evil Aunt becomes a tyrant ruler of Wonderland. I loved how this book featured all the original characters, but gave them more of a military persona - the Mad Hatter as a highly trained bodyguard, the Cheshire Cat an assassin, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum as Generals. And I was chuckling at the Caterpillars acting like high college students! One thing that this book did that others didn't, was to incorporate the Lewis Carroll book into the story, which I thought was a nice touch. A very good book!
