Premise: Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a job working for Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.
I read this book back when the film came out and it was all the rage. I'm not normally one to read a romance as usually I find they get repetitive and predictable. To some extent, this book was predicable - the main characters have clashing personalities to start off with, but gradually they come to realise they get on so well and love each other. Most people probably know the ending by now, and, whilst it was sad, I liked that it didn't go the way you wanted. I felt like the ending was bittersweet and deviated from the typical romance ending. Overall, I thought it was a sweet book, but not my genre. If you enjoy romance and like a warm, fuzzy book, then read this but be warned, you will cry! Still haven't read the sequels - who knows I may read them for completeness!
