REVIEW: Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen)

Book: Sense and Sensibility
Author: Jan Austen
My rating: 4/5.

Premise: This story centres on the personalities of the two Dashwood sistors whose contrasting temperaments are examined as they undergo comparable experiences in the loss of the men they love.

I really enjoyed Sense and Sensibility, more than I liked Pride and Prejudice. The story had a fast enough pace that it kept me engaged and wanting to read more - sometimes the pace in classics drag, making reading a bit more laborious! Jane Austen is very good at creating exaggerated characters to show off how pretentious society could be, contrasting nicely with the more down-to-earth protagonists. I was slightly disappointed that Elinor didn't end up with Colonel Brandon (I was shipping them the whole way through) but the ending was a happy one, tying the book up nicely. A very good read; can't wait for the next one!
