REVIEW: Starter for Ten (David Nicholls)

Book: Starter for Ten
Author: David Nicholls
My rating: 4/5

Premise: 1985. First-year student and Kate Bush fan Brian falls for beautiful University Challenge queen Alice Harbinson in a brilliant comedy of love, class, growing-up, and the all-important difference between knowledge and wisdom.

I loved this book. I read this after my second year of uni so I could relate to the main character, Brian, and could see parallels of him and other characters from my uni experience. Throughout the book, you see Brian trying to be grown up and cultured, and how his perceptions change as he mixes with a range of people. A very funny book!
