REVIEW: Hercule Poirot's Christmas (Agatha Christie)
Book: Hercule Poirot's Christmas
Author: Agatha Christie
Author: Agatha Christie
My rating: 4/5
Premise: Christmas Eve. The Lee family reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a blood curdling scream. The tyrannical Simon Lee is found dead in a pool of his own blood. Despite the festivities, it seems that everyone in the family hated the old man, one of them enough to kill him.
This is the second Agatha Christie book I've read and it was rather good! Again, I couldn't guess who the murderer was and was surprised when it was revealed. There were parts where my inner feminist was cringing at some of the old attitudes and stereotypes towards women and class, but I can appreciate that it was written in a different time. Overall, a cracking murder mystery that I very much enjoyed over the festive season!
