REVIEW: The Rook (Daniel O'Malley)

Author: Daniel O'Malley
My rating: 4.5/5
Premise: "The body you are wearing used to be mine." So begins the letter Myfanwy Thomas is holding when she awakes in a London park surrounded by bodies all wearing latex gloves. With no recollection of who she is, Myfanwy must follow the instructions her former self left behind to discover her identity and track down the agents who want to destroy her.
I really enjoyed this book (shoutout to my brother's girlfriend for the recommendation!). Through Myfanwy's eyes, we enter a supernatural MI5, where people have a variety of weird and wonderful abilities. There is plenty of action, mystery, sass, humour - it's one of the few books where I've laughed out loud multiple times! I loved how badass Myfanwy became in this book, not reverting back to her previous personality, but redefining herself (even if unintentionally!). If you like spy novels and a bit of fantasy, then I recommend this book!
I've also seen that this was made into a TV series on Starzplay. Going to have to keep an eye out for that!!!
