REVIEW: Chain of Gold (Cassandra Clare)

Book: Chain of Gold
Author: Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4.5/5

Premise: Cordelia Carstairs is a Shadowhunter, a warrior trained since childhood to battle demons. When she travels to London, she encounters childhood friends James and Lucie Herondale and is drawn into their world of glittering ballrooms and supernatural salons. But Cordelia's new life is blown apart when demon attacks devastate London. Trapped in the city, Cordelia and her friends discover that a dark legacy has gifted them with incredible powers - and a brutal choice will reveal the true cruel price of being a hero.

I haven't read any Shadowhunter books in a while - not since The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. But this book made me remember how much I love this world. There were a lot of characters introduced in this book and at the start I struggled to remember who's who (especially since it's been a while since I read Clockwork Princess!), but after a while I got to know everyone and really got invested in their stories. What I love about Cassandra Clare's stories is how she managed to weave so many threads and give you hints of secrets all the way through, keeping you hooked. She also manages to break my heart over and over again, with new characters and new ways to keep people apart. Another good Shadowhunter book full of action, mysteries and heartbreak. Don't know how I'll survive until the next book is released!
