REVIEW: Midnight Sun (Stephenie Meyer)

Book: Midnight Sun
Author: Stephenie Meyer
My rating: 4/5.

Premise: When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward's past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he justify following his heart if it means leading Bella into danger?

The main thing I loved about this book was how it built on the characters. We get to see the mess of Edward's mind - the feeling, the torment, the guilt. If anything it made him more human! Also, we get to see more of Bella's selfless and caring personality, which I hadn't appreciated in Twilight. I loved finding out more about the Cullens. There's more of their backstory, their personalities and relationships, and the special 'talents' are explored. Overall, I found this book gave a whole new insight into the whole story and helped explain certain things. I'll admit that at times the plot was slow, but then there is a lot of description thanks to Edward's heightened senses. A must read for anyone who loves the Twilight Saga!
