REVIEW: Untamed (Glennon Doyle)

Book: Untamed
Author: Glennon Doyle
My rating: 4/5.

Premise: For many years, bestselling author Glennon Doyle denied her discontent. Then one day, at a conference, she glanced up at a woman and three words flooded her mind: There. She. Is. This was the voice that she had buried beneath decades of numbing addictions and social conditioning. Glennon decided to let go of the world's expectations of her and reclaim her true untamed self.

This book is really interesting. Similar to some of Matt Haig's books, this is a mix of memoir and discussion. Glennon highlights all the different ways society has moulded and contained us, and then picks them apart, providing alternative approaches. She makes a lot of good points, some that made me sit back and think "damn, I'm guilty of this" and start planning how to do life a bit differently. Throughout this book, I found myself wishing I could live with Glennon and her family because they just sound like such cool, loving and supportive people - a real breath of fresh air. Well worth the read, even if you only take away a few pointers!
