REVIEW: My Lovely Wife (Samantha Downing)

Book: My Lovely Wife
Author: Samantha Downing
My rating: 3/5.

Premise: Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams, and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored. We all have secrets to keeping a marriage alive. Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.

When you read a first person book, you find yourself rooting for that character. But what if that character is a murderer? That's what I liked about this book. All the way through, I found myself wanting this couple to get away with murder, which I found quite conflicting! I think I read this book at a poignant time. The victims in the story are young women and we get to see how people and the media react to their disappearances - how one flaw passes some blame to the victim. The book meandered at times and I had to drag myself to the end. But overall an interesting read, perfect for any crime lover!
