REVIEW: Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo)
Book: Six of Crows
Author: Leigh Bardugo
My rating: 4/5.
Premise: Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams - but he can't pull it off alone. Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction - if they don't kill each other first.
One of the reviews on the cover describes this book as Ocean's Eleven meets Game of Thrones, which sums it up perfectly. I loved the twists and turns. All along, you're never sure what is part of the plan and what isn't. So many times I was ready to bid farewell to my favourites. The characters are really diverse, from Kaz who needs a cane to help him walk, to the various races portrayed. I think the characters are meant to be teenagers but I couldn't help but imagine them older (who's doing a heist at 15?!). I loved seeing the characters develop, seeing where they came from, how they've grown into who they are, and then growing further. The two girls/women are super cool - Nina oozes confidence while Inej is just badass! A really fun book with amazing characters.
