REVIEW: Chain of Iron (Cassandra Clare)
Book: Chain of Iron
Author: Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4.5/5
Premise: A serial murderer is targeting the Shadowhunters of London, killing under cover of darkness, then vanishing without a trace. Together with the Merry Thieves, Cordelia, James, and Lucie must follow the trail of the knife-wielding killer through the city’s most dangerous streets. All the while, each is keeping a shocking secret - and James fears that he may be the killer they seek.
You'd think by now I'd be wary of Cassandra Clare and her ability to break my heart. But nope, here I am, eagerly jumping into another Shadowhunter novel. I love the characters in this series. The banter and friendships make me wish I was one of them. The relationships are typical of Cass Clare - tragic and bittersweet. Each of the characters has a secret in this, which fleshes them out more. But honestly I wanted to put them in a room together and force them to talk! One thing that struck me is the LGBT representation. This is probably the first book I've read with an all male love triangle and I'm LOVING IT. I also adore Anna Lightwood. She's cool, perceptive, rocks male clothing and is the cause of ruin for many married women. Another great Shadowhunter book. I don't know how I'll survive til the next one!
