REVIEW: Between Worlds: Folktales of Britain and Ireland (Kevin Crossley-Holland)
Book: Between Worlds: Folktales of Britain & Ireland
Author: Kevin Crossley-Holland
My rating: 4/5.
Premise: Rich and strange, these eerie and magical folktales from across Britain and Ireland have been passed down from generation to generation, and are gathered together in a definitive new collection from the storyteller Kevin Crossley-Holland.
My lovely friends gave me this book of folktales for my birthday and it's one of the prettiest books I own! The book contains 50-odd folktales from Britain and Ireland, grouped by theme (e.g. love, ghosts, faeries). There were some stories I loved, some I didn't enjoy, and some I didn't understand. Luckily, they were all short so if I didn't like the tale, it was over quickly. At the back is a section explaining the source of the folktale as well as some comments and opinions from the author. A lovely book that will stay on my shelf for years and years to come!
