REVIEW: Murder on the Orient Express (Agatha Christie)
Author: Agatha Christie.
My rating: 4/5.
Premise: Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer.
I confess, I saw the recent film of this so I knew the who did it and why. In general, I would recommend going into any Christie book blind if you can. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. This was a classic Poirot: a group of very different people and one is a murderer, having performed a seemingly impossible crime. Oh I lap this sort of thing up! I found it interesting reading this while knowing the end as I could pick up on the small details, frequently muttering "oh Agatha, I see what you did!". A cracking read! Also, the Kenneth Brannagh version of the film was good - would recommend.
