REVIEW: Queen of Air and Darkness (Cassandra Clare)
Author: Cassandra Clare.
Premise: Innocent blood has been spilled and the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, looking for the source of the disease that is destroying warlocks. Meanwhile, Julian and Emma discover a secret in Faerie that may tear the Shadow World apart and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.
First off, I love Cassandra Clare and I don't think she's capable of writing a bad book. So I may be biased 😂
This book picks up right where the last book left us. Even though there's a large central cast in this series and a number of character relationships and storylines to follow, each of them hook you in and you get attached. There's a good mix of fast paced action and character building throughout, sprinkled with copious amounts of banter. I love the diversity in the novel, especially the poly relationship between Christina, Mark and Kieran.
Naturally, as this is the last book in the series, I got emotional and cried at parts - honestly, Cass Clare doesn't hold back!
The only thing I didn't like was how much characters from other series kept coming in. Similarly, the end of the book left some loose ends ready to be picked up in the next series. I think I would've liked this series to have been a bit more independent in a way. Although, I'd have taken more interactions between Emma and Jem.
I laughed, I cried - cracking series.
