REVIEW: Finale (Stephanie Garber)
Author: Stephanie Garber
Premise: The Fates are free. With lives, empires, and hearts hanging in the balance, Tella must decide if she’s going to trust Legend or a former enemy. After uncovering a secret that upends her life, Scarlett will need to do the impossible. And Legend has a choice to make that will forever change and define him. Caraval is over, but perhaps the greatest game of all has begun.
I wasn't expecting to love this book as much as I did. There's more magic and romance and jeopardy than in the previous books. The danger is turned up a notch with the Fates and it gave the book a bit of darkness. You knew you were in for a final showdown given how bad the baddies were.
Were bits of the story predictable? Yes. Did Tella's worries about her love life get repetitive? Yes. But the pace was fast enough and the story exciting enough that I didn't care. In fact, I loved the romance element. There is a love triangle with Tella and I was sad that the male who wasn't chosen didn't get a redemption arc and didn't get a happy ending. I did like having more Scarlett and Julian as I'd missed them in Legendary.
A really fun series and I wish I could read all of it for the first time again!
