REVIEW: Once Upon a Broken Heart (Stephanie Garber)
Book: Once Upon A Broken Heart
Author: Stephanie Garber
Premise: Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings. Until she learns that the love of her life will marry another. Desperate to stop the wedding, Evangeline strikes a deal with the Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing. But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game—and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’d pledged.
This book was just what I needed - fast paced and an easy read. It picks up from the end of Finale and we follow Evangeline. She's rather naive and is set on her perfect love story. The story gives off real fairytale vibes, but the ones with the twists and slightly darker edges. As with the Caraval series, there's a good deal of mystery and you're not sure who to trust. I loved going to the North and exploring the magic and legends it holds. Evangeline is very naive but we see her start to grow as she faces various setbacks. The chemistry between her and Jacks comes to the front towards the end and I am here for it! Overall, loved it more than I was expecting and I'm excited for book 2!
