REVIEW: Endless Night (Agatha Christie)
Book: Endless Night
Author: Agatha Christie
Premise: When Michael Rogers meets heiress Ellie at the beautiful house of Gypsy's Acre, it seems that all his dreams have come true. But after ignoring warnings of an old curse, he soon learns: Gypsy's Acre is the place where fatal 'accidents' happen...
I wasn't sure about this book to start with but my god I'm glad I stuck with it. It's one of those books you finish and just sit there thinking "wow"!
The story follows Michael finding Gypsy's Acre, meeting Ellie, their whirlwind romance and then peculiar happenings when they move into the house. You can feel the building claustrophobia and agitation through the book. But the twist at the end made the book. I hadn't seen coming and left me a bit unsettled.
My only problem was the flippant use of the word 'gipsy' and the associated negative stereotyping typical of the time this book was written.
