REVIEW: A Twist of Fate (Kelley Armstrong)

Book: A Twist of Fate
Author: Kelley Armstrong

Premise: Four years ago, Rosalind Courtenay became trapped in the 21st century, leaving her husband and infant son behind. Now she’s found her way back...and that’s when the hauntings begin. Rosalind has finally come home and something—or someone—doesn’t just want her gone. They want her dead.

The first 100 pages of this book cover Rosalind's trip to modern day and then coming back. I think I'd have liked more from her stint in present day but that would've been a whole other book!

She comes home and then spends the next chunk of the book digging herself a massive hole by disguising herself as a governess and not being sure when to reveal herself. It was nice seeing her bonding with her son, using her new modern perspective to help him learn.

I also liked how being in the 21st century meant we had a strong female lead who didn't put her husband's issues on herself. I think the only thing I found odd was her husband's liberal mindset. It just felt odd for a Victorian man to be so open minded about everything.

The haunting/mystery subplot was thrilling and did make me slightly nervous about shadows. Not as scary as book 1 but still good.
