REVIEW: The Switch (Beth O'Leary)
Book: The Switch
Author: Beth O'Leary
Premise: After blowing a big presentation at work, Leena takes a two-month sabbatical and escapes to her grandmother Eileen's house for some overdue rest. Eileen is newly single but her tiny Yorkshire village doesn't offer many eligible gentlemen. A life swap seems the perfect solution. But with gossiping neighbours and difficult family dynamics to navigate up north, and trendy London flatmates and online dating to contend with in the city, stepping into one another's shoes proves more difficult than either of them expected.
I loved this book. It was warm and cosy, but with plenty of messy bits to sort out. This book stripped back the superficial in life and brought out the human side. Leena learns to give up the fast paced life and to enjoy the little things. Eileen connects residents in a block of flats and seeks out the lonely. There was a theme with both storylines of looking out for those who are alone and isolated. There was lots of humour in this book as well as the emotions. I couldn't put it down but didn't want it to end! Loved this book!!!!!
