REVIEW: Agatha Christie (Lucy Worsley)
Book: Agatha Christie
Author: Lucy Worsley
Premise: Why did Agatha Christie spend her career pretending that she was 'just' an ordinary housewife, when clearly she wasn't? Lucy Worsley's biography is not just of an internationally renowned bestselling writer. It's also the story of a person who, despite the obstacles of class and gender, became an astonishingly successful working woman.
I love history books, Lucy Worsley's work and Agatha Christie. So this was made just for me! I found it really interesting reading about the life of the Queen of Crime. It spans numerous decades: late Victorian period, both world wars, up to the 70s. We see how the different periods influenced Agatha's writing, which I hadn't fully appreciated. Very well written biography, although there are couple of spoilers for Christie books I haven't read yet!
