REVIEW: Atalanta (Jennifer Saint)

Book: Atalanta
Author: Jennifer Saint

Premise: Left exposed on a mountainside, the infant Atalanta is raised by a passing mother bear under the protective eye of the goddess Artemis. Swearing that she will prove her worth, Atalanta leaves her forest to join Jason's band of Argonauts. But can she carve out her own place in the legends in a world made for men?

This story is in 3 parts: Atalanta's childhood, the Argonaut quest, and afterwards. I found the first section a bit slow and I was worried I wouldn't get into the book. But then we got to the quest and the pacing picked up. It could've been more epic but I still enjoyed this section.

The last section was a drop in the pacing and you could feel how directionless Atalanta felt. I found her decision making wasn't very clear and seemed to be more based on pride, which made me like her less. But overall it was a good book.
