REVIEW: Rule of Wolves (Leigh Bardugo)

Book: Rule of Wolves
Author: Leigh Bardugo

Premise: Ravka is on the brink of war and Nikolai Lantsov will do anything to win this fight. Zoya Nazyalensky has lost too much and now duty demands her to become the weapon her country needs. Deep undercover, Nina Zenik risks discovery as she wages war on Fjerda from inside its capital. Together they must find a way to forge a future in the darkness.

This book felt like a final farewell to the Grishaverse as we get to see lots of threads, both new and old, come together for a final showdown. I really enjoyed this series, the world and the characters.

I did find there was too much trying to happen in this book. We have 3 main protagonists with their own plot lines, then some side characters that get their own chapters. We also get a Crows heist thrown. Plus a cameo from Alina. Leigh Bardugo just threw everything into this book. Some will adore this, but I found it too much.

*SPOILERS*
I didn't like the Darkling's character development. In the original trilogy, he was a villain and he wasn't gonna stop until he ruled Ravka. In this book, he's a lot more watered down and had lost his edge. He just didn't feel like the Darkling and I'm not even sure what the point for bringing back his character was.
