REVIEW: The Temple of Fortuna (Elodie Harper)

Book: The Temple of Fortuna
Author: Elodie Harper

Premise: Amara's journey has taken her far. While she is caught up with the political scheming in Rome, she knows her daughter and Philos are safest while she is far away. But the year is AD 79, and Mount Vesuvius is preparing to make itself known.

I've loved this series and the last book didn't disappoint. The first half continues like the first two books with scheming and Amara trying to maintain her status and protect her family. It was weird as a reader because you know the volcano is going to erupt and will shove all of Amara's other worries aside!

Of course, it would've been easy for the volcano eruption and destruction of Pompeii to solve all the problems. I like how Elodie doesn't use this easy way out. Yes, it helps but she draws on the uncertainty and the new risks for Amara during and after the disaster.

I've really enjoyed this trilogy and seeing Amara grow as a character. Plus the Pompeii setting has taught me more about roman times. Highly recommend!
