REVIEW: The Long Game (Elena Armas)
Book: The Long Game
Author: Elena Armas
Premise: Adalyn Reyes has something to prove. When an embarrassing video goes viral, her father sends her to a small town to turn around their struggling soccer team. She arrives armed with plans to kick them into shape only to find a group of nine-year-old girls. One person is there to help: Cameron Caldani, a surly, scowling football legend.
This was just what I wanted. It's your classic high flying city girl plonked into the middle of nowhere, enemies to lovers, forced proximity sort of story. And it's really enjoyable to read. There are some funny moments, courtesy of the little girls of the team and some goats. Yes you can see where it's all headed, but I still lapped it up. I loved the romance as well - it felt more mature than other romances, with the classic misunderstanding not being that major a plot point. Really enjoyed this.
