REVIEW: Love on the Brain (Ali Hazelwood)

Book: Love on the Brain
Author: Ali Hazelwood

Premise: Bee Königswasser is offered the lead on a NASA neuroengineering project - a literal dream come true. Except her co-lead is Levi Ward - her archenemis. Yet as the project continues, Bee could swear she sees Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas.

I was in the mood for a steminist romance and this one certainly hit the spot. As with all romcom books, it's largely predictable, which I don't mind. It's a classic enemies to lovers, workplace romance, You've Got Mail style plot. So a good foundation.

However, I found Bee a really annoying protagonist. Her narration was cringy, especially with the overuse of Trademarking Phrases™. And as much as I'm used to the frustration of the lead misreading or miscommunicating with the love interest, it was painful in this book. Bee's flawed thinking defied any logic and felt like she was clutching at straws and jumping to delusional conclusions. Not my favourite read.
