REVIEW: The Pale Horse (Agatha Christie)
Author: Agatha Christie
Premise: To understand the strange goings on at The Pale Horse Inn, Mark Easterbrook knew he had to begin at the beginning. But where exactly was the beginning? The savage murder of a priest? The confession of a woman on her death bed? Or was it a violent squabble Mark had witnessed? Wherever the beginning lies, Mark may soon have cause to wish he'd never found it.
I'm not sure what to make of this book. The first half felt slow and it was hard to see how any of the scenes fit together. About half way through, the story picked up and I got hooked. But I wasn't sure about the whole dark magic premise. It felt like we were flip-flopping between reality and fantasy, which didn't gel for me. That being said, it was clever and I did enjoy parts of the ride.
