REVIEW: The Empire of Gold (S.A. Chakraborty)

Book: The Empire of Gold
Author: S.A. Chakraborty

Premise: Daevabad has fallen. Having narrowly escaped, Nahri and Ali face difficult choices and must forge new alliances if they wish to take back their city. As peace grows more elusive and old players return, Nahri, Ali, and Dara come to understand that in order to remake the world, they may need to fight those they once loved . . . and take a stand for those they once hurt.

This is the final book in the Daevabad trilogy and it was definitely a worthy ending. This series was a slow burn, and in this book we see all the plot lines come together, with a healthy dose of action. The narrators are Ali, Nahri and Dara. With Dara, you can't help but feel for him as he realises the people he's been blindly following his whole life are not as perfect as they seem. Meanwhile Ali and Nahri are trying to find a way to save the city, meaning we see different tribes, misfits and creatures. The final showdown was also really well done.

Overall, a really enjoyable end to and very good series.
