REVIEW: What The River Knows (Isabel Ibañez)

Book: What The River Knows
Author: Isabel Ibañez

Premise: When Inez Olivera receives news that her parents have passed away in Egypt under mysterious circumstances, she sets sails for Cairo, bringing only her sketch pads and an ancient ring that her father sent to her for safekeeping. But upon her arrival in Egypt, Inez is thrust into a treacherous game that could threaten her life.

This book is described as The Mummy meets Death on the Nile, with a rivals-to-lovers subplot. So naturally I had to read it! I really enjoyed the tour of Egypt and delving into archaeology. Inez is a willful character, which I liked. There were plot twists and heartbreak that I wasn't expecting. The only thing I fou d annoying was the repetition in the plot of Inez's uncle trying to send her home and her scuppering his plans. Otherwise it was a really fun story and I can't wait for book 2!
