REVIEW: Le Fay (Sophie Keetch)

Book: Le Fay
Author: Sophie Keetch

Premise: Lady Morgan is safe and valued at King Arthur's court in Camelot. But when a face from her past arrives, the future she is planning becomes fraught with danger. Morgan must break the shackles of expectation to seek true happiness. In doing so, she discovers dark new powers that promise control of her life. But it’s at the risk of destroying everything.

This is the sequel to Morgan Is My Name, a feminist retelling Arthurian legend from Morgan's point of view. In this instalment we start with life in Camelot, with court politics caging Morgan. By the end, she's become the antagonist we all know. The story was quite slow and I got frustrated with Morgan at times. It was the last 50 pages or so that I loved. Here I got the vengeful, powerful, badass Morgan that I'd been wanting. I'm looking forward to the next book but hoping it's not as slow as the first two.
