REVUEW: One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel García Márquez)

Book: One Hundred Years of Solitude
Author: Gabriel García Márquez

Premise: This is the story of seven generations of the Buendía family and of Macondo, the town they have built. A microcosm of Columbian life, its secrets lie hidden, encoded in a book and only Aureliano Buendía can fathom its mysteries and reveal its shrouded destiny.

The only things I knew about this book was that it was a revered classic and it was magical realism at its finest. It is a wild, crazy ride. I'm not sure if I'm meant to have found some parts funny but it was so random that I couldn't help chuckling. There were darker points that I could see were drawing parallels to parts of Colombian history. Most of the characters have the same or similar names, which was somehow not as confusing as I would've expected. My advice is to just go with the flow with this book if you want to enjoy this 400 page fever dream!
