REVIEW: Death of a Bookseller (Bernard J. Farmer)
Book: Death of a Bookseller
Author: Bernard J. Farmer
Premise: After escorting a drunk man home, Sergeant Wigan falls in to the gentle art of book collecting. But just as the friendship is blossoming, the policeman's book-collecting friend is murdered. To solve this mystery, Wigan dives into the world of 'runners' and book collectors.
Cosy crime around book collectors? Sounds like the perfect book for me. I mostly enjoyed it. There was certainly mystery, time pressure, fast pacing, twists and turns. The main thing that let me down was the ending. The villain gave up way too easily, seeming to go "yep, it's a fair cop, here's how I did it, oh also I killed your friend" and then seemed to have a friendly yet waffling chat with the detectives. So a bit of a let down as that ruined the whole story for me.
