REVIEW: Big Sister, Little Sister, Red Sister (Jung Chang)

Book: Big Sister, Little Sister, Red Sister
Author: Jung Chang

Premise: They were the most famous sisters in China. As the country battled through a hundred years of wars, revolutions and seismic transformations, the three Soong sisters from Shanghai were at the center of power, and each of them left an indelible mark on history.

This book is both a biography of the three sisters and a history of early 20th century China. Each of the three sisters were fascinating. The youngest became the first lady of pre-Communist China. The eldest was an unofficial advisors and one of China's richest women. The other married the so-called Father of China and rose to be Mao's vice chair. All of these women were flawed but they all left some mark on the country. A really interesting and I learnt a lot about that period in history.
