REVIEW: The Seven Sisters (Lucinda Riley)
Book: The Seven Sisters
Author: Lucinda Riley
Premise: Following her adoptive father's death, Maia D’Apliese is given a clue to her true heritage—a clue which takes Maia across the world to a crumbling mansion in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Eighty years earlier, Izabela Bonifacio convinces her father to allow her to go to Europe before she is married. There she meets ambitious young sculptor Laurent Brouilly, and knows at once that her life will never be the same again.
This is book one of a long series about each of seven sisters. In this instalment, we get introduced to all the sisters and then get transported to Brazil. I enjoyed both the present day and historic timelines. And I did get a real sense of Rio. I was a bit confused about why we went so far back and then it felt a bit rushed as we bridged the gap Izabela and Maia. But it was an enjoyable story and I'm intrigued about where the rest of the series will take me.
