REVIEW: The Bewitching (Silvia Moreno-Garcia)

Book: The Bewitching
Author: Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Premise: After growing up listening to her great-grandmother's stories of witches, Minerva has become a graduate student researching the life of horror writer Beatrice Tremblay. But she soon begins to sense that the malign force that once stalked Tremblay might still walk the halls of the campus.

I don't often give books ratings, but this was easily a 5 star read for me! The story is made of three timeliness: Minerva, her great-grandmother, and Beatrice Tremblay. In each, there is a stalking presence, witchcraft and hints of something vampiric. Each timeline pulled me in and built an eerie atmosphere. While I often like a fast pace, it was really lovely reading a book that takes its time to build. This helped build the tension and suspense and had me feeling spooked! Highly recommend this book.
