REVIEW: House of Blood and Earth (Sarah J Maas)
Book: House of Blood and Earth
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Premise: Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life-working hard all day and partying all night-until a demon murdered her closest friends. Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. When the crimes start up again, Bryce and Hunt find themselves at the heart of the investigation.
Holy smokes, I loved this book! It had world building, character development and a captivating plot. All you could ask for!
At first, I found it hard to get into because you're dropped into the world with not much easing in. But you pick it up and really get into it - I didn't want to leave the world at the end! It's different to Sarah J Maas' other worlds as its a more urban, modern setting, yet still fantasy.
I loved Bryce. Her sass, her cunning, the fact she's dismissed as a party girl then proves people wrong. A very strong female lead. Her relationship with Hunt hit me hard, even though I could see it coming miles off - classic enemies to lovers. And it does get sizzling at points (although not as bad as I was expecting).
Can't wait for book 2!
