REVIEW: Tower of Dawn (Sarah J Maas)
Book: Tower of Dawn
Author: Sarah J Maas
Premise: Chaol and Nesryn have arrived in the Southern Continent to forge an alliance with the Khagan and to visit Torre Cesme, where Chaol's wounds could be healed. Yrene Towers endured horrors as a child so has no desire to help the lord from Adarlan. Yet she has sworn an oath to assist those in need. But Chaol carries shadows from his own past, and Yrene soon comes to realize they could engulf them both.
I wasn't looking forward to this book. Empire of Storms left me on such a high and wanting more of Aelin that the idea of taking a break to see Chaol didn't appeal. I'd also had friends tell me it wasn't the best of the series. So I went in with low expectations.
However, I really enjoyed this book. The vibes reminded me of the first couple of books as we're in one city and there's not too many characters. This book focused on developing the characters of Chaol and Nesryn, as well as building an even bigger world. I loved the Southern Continent, with its progressive attitudes and different cultures. I also loved the relationships that grew between the characters.
Plot wise, there are a couple of reveals that make it important to read this book rather than skip it. And actually I found it a nice break from the action. So don't be put off it!
