REVIEW: Kingdom of Ash (Sarah J Maas)
Book: Kingdom of Ash
Author: Sarah J Maas
Premise: With Aelin Galathynius captured, friends and allies are scattered to different fates. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever. As destinies weave together at last, all must fight if Erilea is to have any hope of salvation.
This finale is a doorstop at 980 pages, but oh wow it is exciting! Normally I'm not a fan of books where the story is just war. But there's so characters with different subplots that I didn't feel bogged down in the battles. As always Aelin has numerous schemes which are always fun to see being pulled off.
Even though this is book 7, there's still a good amount of character development. Relationships and resolves are tested. And of course there is heartbreak from the casualties of war. By the end, it was hard to leave these characters for good. The ending was satisfying but also an emotional farewell.
